After taking a year-long hiatus from his creative pursuits, Romanian photographer Alexandru Deaconu is making a compelling return to his true passion: photography. For Deaconu, photography transcends mere image capture; it serves as a profound form of communication that intimately connects the artist, the subject, and the viewer. His portraiture is characterized by a unique ability to weave together urbanscapes and the human form, showcasing them in their authentic states. Through his lens, he highlights the intricate interplay between the natural beauty of the human body and the environments that surround us.

Deaconu’s work goes beyond surface-level aesthetics; it delves deep into themes of truth, storytelling, and vulnerability. Each photograph is a tender exploration that seeks to unveil the genuine essence of its subjects, inviting viewers to engage with both the emotional depth and the visual splendor present in each frame. His artistic journey reflects a dedication to capturing raw moments, celebrating the beauty found in everyday life, and preserving the stories that unfold within urban landscapes.

Alexandru told us “After a year and a half break, I have returned to what defines me best: photography. This series of images signifies a creative rebirth and a reaffirmation of my passion for visual art. My goal is to offer more than just ordinary images; I strive to tell stories that inspire, challenge, and connect the viewer with the hidden emotions of the subjects.

The photographs were taken in 2021 during a workshop organized by Mihai Bălănică, featuring the talented Ana Tomouanu as the model. Special thanks to both the organizer and the model for their inspiration and professionalism.

Photography, for me, embodies vulnerability, beauty, and the intricate details that tell a story. In this series, I aimed to capture not just aesthetics but also the essence of sensuality in its purest form. I strive to continue exploring the boundaries of this art while sharing a vision that is unique, authentic, and deeply personal.”
