Arief Maulana a.k.a Monorthern is a self-taught illustrator from Indonesia. She told us that she ‘created many album covers, posters, and merchandise for underground bands. Or journal publication illustration.‘

The artist sets a dark tone in her pieces, and this is the first invitation into her world. The ink she uses, the shadows, and the monochrome palette create an engaging journey into the world of her characters. Arief explores a mysterious narrative and using the stippling technique; she continued: ‘my interests are within the fields of depicting the death, myth, nature, loneliness, and sadness.’
