We are excited to premiere the remix of ‘Jumpsweet‘ by Lumberob on our platform. Lumberob is a Brooklyn USA-based musician and performance artist. His live shows are the stuff of legend.

Originally released by Shimmy-Disc in July 2024 as part of the album “Hunter Gather” by Bombo Box (which features two members of Gogol Bordello), this track is now being released by Atypeek Music as a remixed mini-album titled “Lumberrob meets Bombo Box.”

We are also thrilled to share the exciting news about Lumberob’s upcoming album, “Archive Burner,” set to be released on March 13, 2025, through Atypeek Music.

Lumberob, the talented musician known as Rob Erickson, captivates audiences in the vibrant artistic hub of Brooklyn, New York. His live performances have garnered a legendary reputation, drawing people in with their unique energy and creativity. Previously, he was a dynamic member of the eclectic bands Adult Rodeo and Cushions, where he honed his craft and developed his distinctive style.

Lumberob’s journey has also taken him on extensive tours with the celebrated artist Jad Fair, further expanding his musical horizons. His experimental play with words echoes the avant-garde spirit of early Dada pioneers like Hugo Ball and Kurt Schwitters, infusing his work with a sense of whimsy and intellectual depth that captivates and challenges his audience.

BOMBO BOX is a new post-tropical cumbia sound experiment based in New York. Erica Mancini (from Gogol Bordello and Banda Chuska) and Pedro Erazo (also from Gogol Bordello) have teamed up to explore their South American roots. Their goal is to revisit, reimagine, and redecorate cumbia grooves from the Latin diaspora. They use a combination of vintage and futuristic keyboards, rhythm machines, synthesizers, and sound effects while incorporating live vocals, accordion, and percussion into their music.

The remix showcases a vibrant and energetic blend of dance and visual artistry, capturing the dynamic spirit of the performers. Each dancer brings their unique style to the choreography, seamlessly flowing together in a captivating display of talent and creativity. Filmed in the lively atmosphere of OPEN ART STUDIO, the footage is expertly edited by Dennis Williford, enhancing the connection between movement and sound.

The illustrations by Lucas Van Lenten and Lance MacMahan infuse a whimsical touch, complementing the dancers’ expressions and adding layers of visual interest. Amidst the rhythm and color, Santos, the cheerful cowboy, pops into view with a thumbs-up, embodying the playful essence of the remix and inviting viewers to join in the celebration. Overall, this remix is a joyful fusion of art, movement, and storytelling that engages the audience from start to finish.
