Ghostface Killah is heading to Russia for two solo performances this December, bringing one of New York hip-hop’s most distinctive voices to Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Wu-Tang Clan rapper will take the stage at BASE in Moscow on December 24, followed by a show at BASE SPB on December 25.
Born Dennis Coles on May 9, 1970, Ghostface Killah emerged from the New York rap scene of the 1990s as one of the defining voices of Wu-Tang Clan. Following the group’s breakthrough with “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),” he carved out a formidable solo career, beginning with “Ironman” in 1996. The album earned critical acclaim and established the foundations of a catalogue that would expand with “Supreme Clientele” (2000) and “Fishscale” (2006), two releases that cemented his standing among hip-hop’s most respected lyricists.
His delivery is unmistakable: rapid-fire flows, abrasive vocal textures and verses packed with obscure slang, fractured narratives and unexpected turns of thought. Ghostface has built an entire language around these instincts, moving between street-level detail, surreal imagery and intricate storytelling. His influence has earned recognition well beyond the Wu-Tang universe. In 2006, MTV included him among the greatest MCs of all time, while About.com placed him on its list of the Top 50 MCs of 1987–2007, praising him as one of the most creative storytellers in contemporary hip-hop.
The name Ghostface Killah itself draws from martial arts cinema, inspired by a character in the 1979 kung fu film “Mystery of Chessboxing.” That reference sits comfortably within the broader cultural universe surrounding Wu-Tang Clan, where martial arts mythology, street narratives and uncompromising lyricism have long shared the same ground.
Last year, Ghostface returned to one of the most celebrated chapters of his solo discography with “Supreme Clientele 2,” a follow-up to his landmark 2000 album. The release brought his name back into focus for longtime listeners while extending a career built on an unusually personal approach to rap.
His December dates offer two opportunities to catch the New York MC in Russia before the year closes: Moscow on December 24 and St. Petersburg on December 25.
