Two years after calling time on their touring career, Aerosmith have confirmed two full concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, scheduled for 29 October and 1 November 2026. Steven Tyler and the band will reunite for California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends, a pair of performances built around a guest list that reaches deep into rock, hip-hop and metal history.

The announcement landed on Wednesday, 7 October, following a teaser featuring Tyler and photographer Ross Halfin rearranging the letters on the Hollywood Bowl marquee. The reveal made the identity of the guests a central part of the story. The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Billy Idol, Guns N’ Roses members Slash and Duff McKagan, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, producer and guitarist Andrew Watt, country singer Eric Church, Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, Sammy Hagar and Tom Morello are all confirmed to appear. Aerosmith have also promised further names in the coming weeks.

With such a broad roster assembled for two nights, the event brings together artists whose careers have crossed through different corners of American music. The precise lineups for each concert have yet to be detailed, so the announced guests should not be taken as confirmation that every artist will perform on both dates.

The Hollywood Bowl announcement carries particular weight given the circumstances surrounding Aerosmith’s retirement from touring in August 2024. Following their 9 September 2023 performance at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, Tyler suffered a fractured larynx, forcing the band to postpone the remaining dates of their Peace Out farewell tour. The injury occurred just three concerts into the run. The postponed shows were eventually cancelled, and the band stated that Tyler would not make a full recovery from the vocal damage.

At the time, the statement marked the end of an era for a group whose career had stretched across five decades. It also left an obvious question hanging over Aerosmith‘s future: whether the end of touring meant the end of live performances altogether.

Joe Perry offered an early indication that the door might remain open. In July 2025, the guitarist spoke publicly about discussions surrounding a possible return, saying he believed there had to be “at least another Aerosmith gig”. He later tempered expectations of a full-scale tour, while maintaining the possibility of occasional appearances. The distinction matters now: Aerosmith have announced two specific concerts, with no additional tour dates confirmed.

Tyler had already begun returning to selected live events. In July 2025, he appeared at Back to the Beginning, the farewell concert honouring Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Two months later, he joined Joe Perry, Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt for an Ozzy tribute at the MTV Video Music Awards. Aerosmith also worked with Yungblud on the 2025 EP “One More Time”, extending the band’s activity beyond the stage during a period of uncertainty about its future.

The Hollywood Bowl dates represent the most substantial announcement of live Aerosmith performances since the retirement statement. Their format leaves room for collaborations and one-off appearances, while keeping the commitment limited to two evenings. For now, the band has made no announcement about resuming regular touring.

California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends will take place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Thursday, 29 October, and Sunday, 1 November 2026.
