After a long period of silence, the band Tenebres announces its comeback with a special project: the release of the live video for the song ‘Redemption’ from the album “Pain Eternal,” a unique interpretation accompanied by Essenza Quartet and a choir formed by several members of the National Opera of Iași.
Although the song is not new, this unique version, filmed exclusively, has never been made public before and represents the closing of a chapter in the band’s history, before revealing the new line-up and new songs.
The video captures an emotional and intense performance, combining gothic metal music with classical elements, creating an unforgettable visual and auditory experience. It is a rare opportunity for the band’s fans to see a different version of the song ‘Redemption’ in a special artistic setting. The video was directed by Razvan Lupascu. The theme of the song is the story of mankind which is trapped in a cycle of reincarnation on earth to reach the ultimate spiritual ascension and his helplessness in this eternal struggle.
After a hiatus, Tenebres reaffirms its position in the Romanian music scene and announces that it is already working on new material, which will be released this year. In addition, the band will release two behind-the-scenes films, giving fans exclusive access to the creative process behind their successful videos, ‘Pain Eternal’ and ‘Cry in Serenity.’ The band will also increase its efforts to sing more internationally.
“Everything has become darker since we took a break. We have noticed more corruption, evil and chaos in the world. We want to express this and highlight it in our music, in the hopes that those who will listen will rediscover themselves and have comfort in the fact that they are not alone. It is possible that many of those who know us so far will not recognize us, because we have made some major changes in terms of line-up, sound, and appearance. Everything will be much faster, darker, and mystical. At the moment, we are filming a new video for the first song from the new album, and preparing the behind the scenes films for Pain Eternal and Cry in serenity”, says the band’s lead singer Demetrius Daine.

Formed in 2015, Tenebres has become known for their unique combination of blackened/gothic metal and classical elements highlighted by cello, clean vocals, and occasional quartet and choir, as well as for their deep artistic approach expressed through complex and symbolic videos and pyrotechnic shows.
The band released the album “Pain Eternal” in 2017 and embarked on a national tour of over 20 concerts and participated in numerous festivals including OSTRING, Artists of the Dark, Revolution Fest, Rock’n’Iași Outdoor and Indoor edition, Bucovina Rock Castle, Black and White Motorfest, Metal Gates Festival, Posada Rock Festival, Celtic Transilvania and others.
The band released four live videos, accompanied by a quartet and choir, paying tribute to the bands My Dying Bride and Virgin Black, covering the songs ‘My Hope, The Destroyer’ and ‘Our Wings are Burning,’ in their own style, and two art videos called ‘Pain Eternal,’ and ‘Cry in Serenity’.
With a devoted fanbase both nationally and internationally, the band continues to evolve and surprise with innovative projects and intense performances. Stay tuned for more surprises and get ready for the return of an emblematic band of the Romanian metal scene.
In 2021, Tenebres frontman Demetrius Daine was invited as a guest vocalist in the international project Lord of Shadows for the song ‘Delebit Oblivio’ alongside Heike Langhans (ex-Draconian/Light Field Reverie). This song paid a final tribute to Robert Cotoros (Hteththemeth).
