Motionless In White are continuing the rollout for their upcoming album “Decades” with the release of a powerful new single, ‘R.I.P.’, featuring guest vocals from Skylar Grey. Set to arrive on July 17 via Roadrunner Records, the band’s seventh studio album is already shaping up to be one of their most ambitious releases to date.
Accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by longtime collaborator Jensen Noen, the track takes a more melodic and cinematic approach than some of the band’s heavier material. Built around piano melodies, atmospheric synth layers, and the interplay between Chris Motionless and Skylar Grey’s voices, ‘R.I.P.’ explores heartbreak, regret, and the emotional distance that follows a painful separation.
According to frontman Chris Motionless, Skylar Grey’s contribution transformed the song in ways he hadn’t anticipated, adding a depth and emotional weight that elevated the final result.
Lyrically, the track reflects on the aftermath of damaged relationships and the difficult silence that often follows conflict. While originally written from a romantic perspective, Motionless explained that the song can resonate with anyone who has experienced a painful fallout with someone important, whether a partner, friend, or family member. At its core, ‘R.I.P.’ captures the uncertainty of not knowing whether a fractured connection can be repaired or if it has reached its end for good.
The release further builds anticipation for “Decades”, which will feature several notable guest appearances, including Skylar Grey, Corey Taylor, and Anthony Martinez.
The band’s latest chapter arrives as Motionless In White prepare for an extensive touring schedule. After recently completing an arena run alongside Bring Me The Horizon, the group is set to launch its own headlining trek, “The Sweat and Blood Tour”, beginning this July before expanding to additional dates later in the year.
With ‘R.I.P.’, Motionless In White offer one of the most emotionally vulnerable moments from “Decades” so far, hinting at a record that balances cinematic atmosphere, personal storytelling, and the band’s signature modern metal sound.
