Revealed as a summer drop, the Jean Paul Gaultier Maison revives its ready-to-wear line through ‘Les Marins’ collection. The label’s creative crew revisits the myth of the Sailor so dear to the fashion world’s Enfant Terrible, starting with the iconic Marinière, the traditional US Navy hat. A unisex, inclusive, collaborative collection perspires a misty sea air.
Five renowned designers were invited by the studio to create even more creatively outrageous pieces mixing the different universes of each. For that extra touch, some of Maison’s mythical pieces, loaded with history, reappear in this capsule collection.
In a collaborative spirit, brands Alan Crocetti, Lecourt Mansion, Marvin M’Toumo, Ottolinger, and Palomo Spain have been tapped as co-creators on the expansive collection. Their appointment followed Gaultier’s announcement that he’d be retiring from his namesake brand and would hand the reigns of the couture collection to different designers each season (the first, by Sacai’s Chitose Abe, will debut this July).
You can shop the Les Marins collection on Jean Paul Gaultier’s website now. But hurry—many pieces are already sold out!
