Belgian photographer Marc T. recognizes beauty when he sees it. Tattoos are the focus of the artist’s latest series, ‘Fleshing Words‘. While the cultural taboo against inked-up women is still strong, he wants his subjects to come out powerfully and share their stories.

If you love this series, then you’ll be glad to hear that Marc is always looking for models based in Belgium for this ongoing project, as he aims to document the fascinating world of tattoos.

When Demi A. stepped into my studio I was wondering about her tattoos. The tattoos she has on her body are like an open book that tells the story of her life. Slowly, she will cover her entire body. I’m fascinated by tattoo culture and the symbols and meanings behind the inked words and signs. Tattoos depict the idea of erasing the body by bringing words and the body together. For the majority of the time, true personal stories take place on the skin, which becomes a private and intimate epidermic surface.

It was a pleasure working with Demi and we had a great time shooting. The work flowed smoothly and she was very professional. I was surprised to discover that Demi had just begun modeling, which I was unaware of. I was one of the first photographers to have the pleasure of working with her. It was mind-blowing to see her professional attitude and kindness. Demi is a real and professional talent.

Taking a good photograph requires the cooperation of two people, the photographer and the model. Collaboration between both parties is essential to the success of the final image.
