Bordeaux-based heavy blues merchants DÄTCHA MANDALA‘s new video pays tribute to the “Rock’n’Roll Queen” Janis Joplin. Their new EP “The Last Drop” is set to be released on May 20th through Mrs. Red Sound with the exclusive video documentary “In Studio With Dätcha Mandala”.

Experience the Flower Power era listening to ‘Janis’ right now:

Riffs galore, rousing chorus lines, pounding drums… DÄTCHA MANDALA‘s new single ‘Janis’ proves once again the trio’s ability to handle big references without ever getting lost. Feelgood track ‘Janis’ is a true ode to rock’n’roll and freedom. The studio footage is taken from the video documentary directed by Roger Merpillat – coming out with the EP.

“The starting point was a guitar/drums jam played by JB and Jerem in the band’s rehearsal room. Then Nico came in, he suggested a vocal melody and a pre-chorus. That was enough to remind us of Janis Joplin’s ‘Piece of my Heart’. This is how we got the idea to pay tribute to her.”

Their new EP “The Last Drop” pays tribute to the 70s rock frenzy. It is set to be released with the behind-the-scenes video documentary ‘In Studio With Dätcha Mandala’ – directed by Roger Merpillat –  on May 20th, 2022 via Mrs. Red Sound.

DÄTCHA MANDALA have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with among the French Heavy Rock scene, providing very generous live experiences. The blues rockers seduce with their high-powered guitars, transcendental voices, and their bubbling energy.

They come back in force with a pure 70s rock 5-track recorded by English producer Clive Martin (Queen, The Cure) at Cryogène Prod studio in Bègles, France, and mastered by Bill Skibbe of Third Man Mastering, Detroit (USA). Bill Skibbe comments on his collaboration with the team: “Fantastic songs by the way and great recordings, awesome sounds! It was super fun to listen to their jams.. great songs and amazing playing!”

The tribute EP to the incredible 70s rock madness is going to be released with an intimate black and white video documentary about the band’s recording and creative process.
