Between sonic tension and mystical wave, the universe of Mona Kazu draws its inspiration from noise, jazz, indie rock, coldwave… with a multi-faceted inhabited voice as the guiding thread.

The 3rd album “Steel Your Nerves” will be released in the fall of 2021 on the historical label Falls Avalanche Records for France, Urgence Disk Records for Switzerland, and Atypeek Music for digital.

For its recording, Priscille (vocals, keyboard) and Franck (guitar, mandolin, programming) have invited the drummer Régïs Boulard (Laetitia Sheriff/Trunks, Sons of the Desert, Olivier Mellano,…), with his inventive play and great musicality. This new formula has led them in a direction that they wished to take for a long time: more direct compositions, privileging the sensitivity of the play and the emotion.

The band is inspired by and surrounds itself with visual artists, such as Kathy Aponi, a painter who draws its matter in the symbolism and the raw art; Parvati, street artist, painter, drawer, and illustrator of dreamlike style; or Luc Bernad and his rhythmic lines by music and dance.

Mona Kazu also makes musical performances in different forms. For several years, the band has accompanied “Les Médusés of Gorgopolitis” both in the sound ambiance of the installation as well as for a musical reading around their universe of anticipation. In 2019, following a commission from the International Video Dance Festival of Burgundy, Mona Kazu creates a cine concert around short films of Maya Deren, director in the 1940s. In 2020-21, Mona Kazu participates in a new creation Soliloque d’une déclassée mixing theater and live music with the “Cie À l‘envers de soi”.
