Children Of Bodom are returning to the stage once again. The Finnish metal icons have confirmed a new reunion performance for 2027, joining the lineup of Helsinki’s Tuska Festival for a special co-headlining appearance.

The announcement continues what was initially presented as a tribute to the band’s legacy following the death of frontman and guitarist Alexi Laiho in 2020. After officially ending their career in 2019, few expected Children Of Bodom to perform together again. Yet earlier this year, the surviving members reunited for two emotionally charged concerts celebrating the music they created over more than two decades.

Original guitarist Alexander Kuoppala, bassist Henkka Seppälä, keyboardist Janne Wirman, and drummer Jaska Raatikainen returned to the stage with Lost Society vocalist Samy Elbanna taking on the demanding role of performing Laiho’s parts. Rather than attempting to replace the band’s late frontman, the concerts were conceived as a tribute to both his legacy and the songs that defined an era of melodic death metal.

The setlists drew heavily from the band’s classic catalogue, featuring fan favourites including ‘Living Dead Beat’, ‘Sixpounder’, ‘Silent Night, Bodom Night’, ‘Needled 24/7’, ‘Blooddrunk’, ‘Follow The Reaper’, and ‘Downfall’. For many fans, the performances demonstrated that while Alexi Laiho‘s presence remains inseparable from Children Of Bodom‘s identity, the music itself continues to resonate in a live setting.

With Tuska Festival now confirming another reunion for 2027, what first appeared to be a farewell tribute is beginning to take on a longer life of its own. There is still no indication that the band plans to record new material or return as a full-time act, but their continued appearances suggest that the legacy of Children Of Bodom is far from being confined to the past.

For now, the next chapter unfolds where it all began: in Helsinki, in front of a home crowd ready to celebrate one of Finland’s most influential metal bands once again.
