Romanian photographer Catalin Moldovan takes us on an intimate visual journey as he unveils a photo series shot in collaboration with model Gabriela Nagy. Possessing a timeless quality, the series transports all of us to a realm where we can feel emotions embedded within each frame.

Fueled by his passion for storytelling, Moldovan reckons he started the photography journey with a therapeutic purpose.

I grew up being self-aware of my body image, being insecure, covering up top to bottom all the time. It was exhausting and an experience filled with shame. It all began just 2 years ago when, my partner at that time and I, wanted to use photography as a mirroring medium. We wanted to get to see ourselves in good angles and as well as bad ones. It was an acceptance journey and an empowering one as well. We came to love and embrace our bodies and our identities. Now I want to continue using this platform as a tool to help myself and other people who want to embrace body positivity, self-love and confidence. Beauty is in all of us.

He now masterfully freezes intimate moments in time, evoking various stories and emotions while having a lasting impact on viewers. Capturing the grace of human bodies, he reminds us of the beauty within and around us, inviting the viewers to connect with powerful emotions and set themselves free.

Catalin and I have been friends for a good couple of years. I was going through a rough phase in my life, marked by a lot of self-doubt, which caused me to see myself in a very different way. I lost most of my confidence and felt like I could no longer connect with the feminine side of myself. I shared my feelings with him, seeking some friendly advice, and he provided plenty. After a few months of me venting to him, he suggested doing a photo shoot to help me see myself through someone else’s eyes.

I’ve always been drawn to this type of art, which captures the admirable details of a person, whether feminine or male. It can reveal authenticity and vulnerability, qualities that are rarely exposed in today’s world, and Catalin succeeded in capturing them through his lens,” says Gabriela Nagy on her collaboration with Catalin.
