Queens of the Stone Age have seemingly settled one of the biggest questions surrounding their next chapter: the band’s ninth studio album will be called “Perfecth”.
The announcement came in characteristically strange fashion, through a video built around a game of five-finger fillet. What initially looked like a straightforward reveal quickly became another exercise in uncertainty. A September 30 release date appeared in the clip, only to be crossed out and replaced with the much vaguer message: “coming soon.”
The date may have disappeared, but the album itself now appears considerably more concrete. “Perfecth” follows a period of renewed activity for the band, including the launch of an online complaint line and the arrival of ‘Easy Street’ last month.
Featuring guest vocals from Nikki Lane, ‘Easy Street’ marked Queens of the Stone Age‘s first new recording since “In Times New Roman”, released in 2023. The track had already entered the band’s live repertoire during the Catacombs tour before receiving its official release through Matador Records and Remote Control Records.
With “Perfecth” now carrying a name, the next Queens of the Stone Age era is beginning to take shape, even if its exact arrival remains deliberately unclear. The band will also bring the new material into a packed Australian and New Zealand run this December, joined by Primus and Australian experimental rock outfit Tropical Fuck Storm.

For now, Queens of the Stone Age have offered three pieces of the picture: a title, a new single and a run of dates across Australia and New Zealand. The release date for “Perfecth” remains the missing detail; and, fittingly, another small mystery surrounding an album that has already arrived with its own peculiar sense of theatre.
