New York City-based and Denmark born photographer, Torkil Gudnason, came to the United States in 1978 to pursue his passion in the field of photography.

In contrast to the long dark winters that Gudnason experienced growing up in Denmark, his mind and eye drift towards vibrant and lively subject matter that he constructs in his studio.

Gudnason’s most recent works express feelings of wonder and explore the contemporary natural world through the use of color and abstraction of the nude human form. By using classical subject matter, he creates compositions that relate to history but grow and progress in his own light through the use of symbols.
