British genre-blender Native James returns with “Confession of a Sinner,” a visceral 13-track EP that cements his place as one of the most fearless voices in the UK’s alternative scene. Released on October 3rd, the record is a volatile collision of nu-metal fury, introspective lyricism, and cinematic ambition, a bold step forward following last year’s “Rebirth” EP.
Hailing from Ipswich, Native James refuses to be boxed in. His sound fuses hip-hop, grime, punk, rock, metal, and garage, forming a raw and magnetic hybrid that feels both nostalgic and revolutionary. Across “Confession of a Sinner,” he balances aggression with confession, turning pain and chaos into sonic catharsis.
The EP includes previously released singles ‘Fallen,‘ ‘GTFU,’ and ‘You’re Nothing,‘ alongside three new cuts, most notably the searing ‘Pry Away.‘ About the track, Native explains: “I wanted to peel the scars off and show wounds with this song. It’s about the internal struggles of mental health, addiction, and the comfort we find in returning to darkness out of habit.” Between the tracks, cinematic interludes act as emotional bridges, exposing a more reflective and self-aware side of the artist.
Describing the record as “ups and downs, trials and tribulations… a sinner and his thoughts,” Native delivers an immersive exploration of human duality, rage against reflection, sin against salvation.
2025 has been a breakout year for Native James: MOBO nomination for Best Alternative Act, a Glastonbury debut with two sets, and a support slot for Letlive.’s farewell London shows. His music has been championed by BBC Radio One’s Alyx Holcombe, featured on Spotify’s Misfits 2.0 playlist cover, and even placed in a Co-Op advert.
With “Confession of a Sinner,” Native James doesn’t just confess, he conquers. If “Rebirth” was the awakening, this is the reckoning, and 2026 is already his for the taking.
