Massive Attack’s appearance in Singapore has become the subject of an official investigation after the British duo were alleged to have displayed a Palestinian flag during their performance at The Star Theatre on July 29, as part of their ongoing “xLive” world tour.

According to reports, Robert Del Naja and Daddy G concluded the concert by holding up a Palestinian flag while chanting “Free Palestine.” The moment has since drawn the attention of Singaporean authorities, where legislation places strict limits on political expression in public spaces and regulates the display of foreign flags and political symbols.

Singapore Police confirmed that reports had been filed and that an investigation is now underway. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has also opened an inquiry to determine whether the venue may have breached the conditions of its operating licence.

Under Singaporean law, displaying foreign national flags or political emblems without prior written authorisation is prohibited. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, violations may carry financial penalties or custodial sentences.

The incident adds another chapter to Massive Attack’s long history of political engagement. Throughout their career, the Bristol pioneers have consistently used both their music and live performances to address humanitarian, environmental and geopolitical issues, often placing activism alongside artistry.
