There’s something about From Ashes to New that makes their shows feel like an explosion waiting to happen, and the second they launched into ‘New Disease,’ that fuse lit. No easing in, no small talk, just a full-force collision of sound and emotion that hit like a wave. It was still early in the tour, and that showed in the best way possible. Every member looked locked in, hungry, like they’d been counting down the minutes to get back on stage.

Danny Case came out swinging, his voice a perfect mix of power and pain, cutting through the noise with precision. Across from him, Matt Brandyberry was pure fire, spitting verses with this fearless urgency that demanded attention. Together they built something electric, that push-and-pull between melody and grit that defines the band. From the first chorus, it was clear they weren’t just performing; they were owning the room.

Behind them, Lance Dowdle’s guitar lines hit sharp and clean, giving every song its backbone. Jimmy Bennett added texture and depth, his guitar and backing vocals filling out the sound in a way that made the heavy parts feel even heavier. Mat Madiro sat in the back but felt like the engine of it all, his drumming relentless, each hit syncing perfectly with the pulse of the crowd. Together, they played like a single organism, every piece moving with purpose.
‘Heartache’ and ‘Panic’ followed, keeping the energy high and the connection tight. Every lyric hit like a release, the kind that leaves you breathless but grounded. The crowd was all in from the start, fists up, voices raised, shouting every word as if it were their own. You could feel that mutual exchange, the band giving everything, the audience throwing it right back.
Midway through, Matt took a step forward and let the noise fade. He started talking about mental health, about being “weird,” and how proud he is of that word now. He spoke about how the same things that make us different are what make us strong, and how grateful they are for every person who has found a piece of themselves in these songs. It wasn’t rehearsed or polished, it was real. You could feel the air shift. For a moment, the room wasn’t a concert, it was a conversation.
When the band came back in, it hit harder. Every lyric after that talk carried more weight, every scream felt like release. During ‘Nightmare,’ Danny’s voice cracked on the chorus, and instead of losing the moment, it made it stronger. The crowd picked up the line and carried it for him, thousands of voices blending into one. It was messy, emotional, and completely human, the exact kind of moment that reminds you why live music still matters.

As the set closed, the band stood shoulder to shoulder at the edge of the stage, thanking everyone like they meant it. You could see it in their faces—gratitude, exhaustion, pride. They didn’t just put on a show; they built a connection.

Walking out into the cool night, ‘New Disease’ was still ringing in my head. It felt fitting, the song that started the night also summed it up. It’s about facing what’s broken, owning it, and turning it into strength. That’s what From Ashes to New did that night. Early in the tour, already firing on all cylinders, they proved they’re not just surviving the chaos—they’re thriving in it.
