BLINK-182 Aren’t Done Yet: A New Album Is Underway

Blink-182 are not treating their current chapter as a conclusion. Drummer Travis Barker has confirmed that the band have already begun working on a new album, suggesting that the creative momentum behind their reunion is still very much intact.

The news surfaced during Barker’s recent appearance on The New York Times’ Popcast, where the drummer discussed his increasingly expansive work outside the band ahead of the release of his new documentary, “Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear”.

Asked what he is currently involved in, Barker mentioned several production projects before quietly revealing that Blink-182 are already developing their next record.

“I’m starting a couple of other projects, like producing projects, working on the next Blink album.”

When asked whether the album was something being developed this year or a project intended for 2027, Barker was equally direct: “Working on the Blink album this year.”

There is still no release date attached to the project, nor any indication of how far the sessions have progressed. What is clear, however, is that another Blink-182 record is now part of the band’s immediate creative landscape.

The album will follow 2023’s “One More Time…”, the record that reunited Barker, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge after more than a decade apart. Its arrival closed one of the longest-running chapters of uncertainty surrounding the band, bringing DeLonge back into the lineup and placing the three musicians together on a full-length release for the first time in years.

The record subsequently took Blink-182 around the world, with the band continuing to build on the reunion through their touring cycle, including last year’s “Missionary Impossible” tour.

They have also been looking backwards. A 20th-anniversary edition of “Take Off Your Pants And Jacket” was recently released with six additional tracks, adding another layer to a period in which Blink-182 have been simultaneously revisiting their history and moving forward.

For Barker, that movement extends well beyond Blink-182. He is also producing and playing drums on the forthcoming Alkaline Trio album, while continuing to develop a growing portfolio of projects as a producer and musician.

The announcement arrives shortly before Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on August 13. The documentary traces Barker’s life and career, including the 2008 plane crash that left him with severe burns and began a long and difficult recovery.

For Blink-182, however, the immediate story is considerably simpler. Somewhere between the touring, archival releases and Barker’s many parallel projects, another record has started taking shape. No title, tracklist or release window exists yet.

There is only the confirmation that Blink-182 are back in the studio, and the next album has already begun.
