Australian heavyweights Vessel have just released a new video for their second single, ‘Eat the Day,’ from their forthcoming concept album, “The Somnifer,” which is set to be released on November 1st via Majestic Mountain Records

The track is part of “The Somnifer,” a concept album written in reflective isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Guitarist and songwriter Jordan Forster explores the aftermath of trauma and the enigmatic journey of sleep, taking listeners through mental stages of empowerment and existential dread.

On the new single, the band comments:
“You wake, feeling like you could take on the world, and step out into the day to make it bend to your will. But is this unusual sense of power and control just a subterfuge of self? What is even real? Does it even matter? ‘Eat the Day’ delivers blood-pumping desert heat riffs and earth-pounding drums that sync with the sound of your feet hitting the pavement as you run towards the future you crave, even if it is only in your dreams.”

Musically, “The Somnifer” merges the epic drama of Candlemass and Cathedral, the cosmic psychedelia of All Them Witches and King Buffalo, and the aggression of hardcore and crossover scenes, all tied together with the timeless spirit of classic heavy metal.

The album also features special guest appearances from Neal Stein (El Supremo, ex-Egypt), Andy Shardlow (Josiah), D. Lolli (Mama Doom), and Ceridwen McCooey, adding further depth to the album’s immersive sound.
