The Different Class unveils ‘Ping Pong’, the lead single from their highly anticipated album “Skins”, out February 18th.

Thrilling and liberated, ‘Ping Pong’ is about two colliding worlds that try to survive a conflictual state of mind, the primal attraction of opposite vibes, characters, and aims. The song is an anthem for people to call the shots and not distance themselves from what they want. Written by Seian, Michael, and Cris, ‘Ping Pong’ arrives alongside an iconic, energy-boosting video directed by Bianca Paul in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
The video showcases a different story for The Different Class. Constructed like a dark noir short movie, the video matches the song’s darkish tone with chilly imagery aiming to create a feeling of cool and carelessness. The outfit designed by Jess Øberlin and worn by Demy Rijken was inspired by the symbol of Eindhoven: the vibes.
It’s the extraordinary journey to where the band finds itself now that is encapsulated on ‘Ping Pong’, a record and a state-of-mind in many ways. As stated by the band “the album is a transformative journey, being evident in the new elements, direction, and approach we have made in the last three years.”
The Different Class has always written with startling candor on feelings and identity – topics which are now taken to greater heights on their new single, respectively album. And on this road to their upcoming record, the band has felt even more comfortable diving into the indie-electronica sound. “Meeting Michael opened new windows to experiment more with an incursion in the cinematic side of TDC, with lush and mellow sounds in some parts and huge drops to recall the raw rock’n’roll sound,” Cris says.
Stripping away rock’s repetitive sound while keeping true to its excitement and energy is the band’s special gift. The Different Class has fashioned an extraordinary, fizzing new single which can proudly sit on a global stage next to their kind. But the calling card of ‘Ping Pong’ is the fragile, street charm that stands in plain sight among Cris Paul’s catchy voice, anchoring the song’s core theme of conflictual state. “Life’s too short and fragile to get lost in mind games, so, the plot of the video is about making more out of what you have, not distance yourself from something you are attracted to, because of the differences.”
As if that wasn’t enough, The Different Class continues to satiate their fans by gathering the most talented people around the globe, to offer them an unforgettable experience. ‘Ping Pong’ was mixed in Toronto by Rob Anders, one of the most active and acclaimed mixing engineers in the Canadian film industry.
The mastering was done in New York City by Tim Boyce who worked with artists like French Montana, Emmy the Great, Daftside (Nicolas Jaar) and mastered the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby. The video is edited in London by Sam Kinsella and the post-production, effects, and final cut are done by Aurelian Scorobete.
