First of all, we have to know that, Takato Yamamoto calls his style “Heisei Estheticism”, which blends traditional Ukiyo-e woodblock prints with images of bondage and horror akin to those found in modern manga. Sex and death are familiar lovers in Yamamoto’s works. A closer examination reveals a degree of finesse and imagination that elevates his work away from the porn ghetto into the rarified realm of Decadence. Morality is subsumed into visceral moments of seduction and satisfaction.
