Takato Yamamoto. When Macabre Smiles With the Face of Eroticism.

First of all, we have to know that, Takato Yamamoto calls his style “Heisei Estheticism”, which blends traditional Ukiyo-e woodblock prints with images of bondage and horror akin to those found in modern manga. Sex and death are familiar lovers in Yamamoto’s works. A closer examination reveals a degree of finesse and imagination that elevates his work away from the porn ghetto into the rarified realm of Decadence. Morality is subsumed into visceral moments of seduction and satisfaction.

“My basic theme is the image of the universe operation that has repeated the circulating generation (life) and dismantlement (death). I express symbolically the image to be a man’s body as the main motif, while taking the image of a plant, an insect, and other various objects.”
