The Pianist And The Glaciers: Ludovico Einaudi On The Arctic Ocean

Ludovico Einaudi performed one of his own compositions on a floating platform in the middle of the Ocean, against the backdrop of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier (in Svalbard, Norway). In a phantasmal landscape Einaudi tries to support the Greenpeace campaign Save The Arctic. For what reason we must save this area? Well: “Because what happens in the Arctic is a matter that affects us all, I demand that it be protected.” Sign this petition if you don’t want to see Louvre Palace flooded or cities of Europe floating in the water in the middle of summer. #SaveTheArctic

Einaudi premiered his new composition, Elegy for the Arctic”, as governments gathered in Tenerife to consider a proposal to protect 10% of the Arctic Ocean. As he plays one descending scale, huge chunks of ice calve off the glacier.
