Man has always had a strange curiosity regarding one’s mind. The person next to you or you have feelings for makes you imagine scenarios and interpret untold stories of their human being. Niklas Kvarforth is for the metal world a special appearance. A man who always decided to show off his real face, while his character is a continuous transparency. Often one admits about suffering from very serious metal problems, but like any other artists, this can be an imagination game, or precisely, an assumed exaggeration. Claudio Marino, the same producer that lies behind “Blood and Spirit” trilogy, tries to discover the man presented in this grotesque “show”.
“I’ve known about Niklas and his music for a long time. His story interested me and I wanted to know more about him as a person. I did some research and we got in contact. I showed him my documentary trilogy “Blood and Spirit” and he was interested in working with me. We got along from the start and he proved to be very cooperative. He was brutally honest, and never left any of my questions unanswered.” – Claudio Marino
“Cold Void” is a documentary that tries to explore the outside world of a black metal musician. For those of you who don’t know, Niklas Kvarforth is the front man of depressive/black metal band Shining. His live appearances are well-known and crowned with sadism and self-mutilation.
“Cold Void” is a wanna-be film about life and suffering and not an excitement attempt to Shining fans. It’s therefore a personal journey, a story about a fierce desire of self-destruction and an introduction to the aesthetics of suicide.
“Cold Void” is set for release in the autumn of 2017 in Swedish with English subtitles, and with music by Treha Sektori. It will be available worldwide in DVD format directly from Artax Film and Shining themselves, as well as via VOD.
